H-Town Throwdown, Vol. II - The Houston Chronicles
January 17, 2012 07:27 PM PST
"Not from Houston/ but I Rap-A-Lot..." When those words were uttered by the Notorious BIG from the 1994 classic "Flava In Ya Ear (Remix)" it solidified Houston, Texas as a rap mecca to be dealt with. From K-Rino and the South Park Coalition to the Geto Boys to Raheem, there was no denying that Houston had talent and the masses had no choice but to take notice now that Biggie Smalls had given the Dirty South a shout-out. In 2012, Houston has not only secured it's place as a musical haven of hip-hop but our southern fried rhymes are heard and appreciated worldwide. This is more than a mixtape. It's a history lesson featuring some of the dopest cuts to ever emerge from Space City. So sit back and enjoy these beats and rhymes from the past, present, and future of Houston, Texas hip-hop.
